The Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics – National Research Institute (IAFE-NRI) is a Polish independent scientific and research centre with 60 years of scientific achievement and experience in analysing economic and production processes in the Polish agriculture and food economy. The scientific staff of the Institute comprises 10 professors, 7 assistant professors (PhD hab.), 31 doctors (PhD), 33 assistants and 4 technical research specialists, employed in 9 scientific departments.
What they do for Perceive:
The IAFE-NRI is a research institute specialized in agricultural economics and regional studies and important part of its current research concentrates on EU policies and their impact on socioeconomic growth. Within the PERCEIVE project IAFE-NRI will be involved in the analysis of EU policies and their impact. More precisely, the IAFE-NRI will coordinate a report on the policy recommendations on how to integrate Cohesion Policy with Urban and Rural policies. In completing this task, the IAFE-NRI will address how territorial cohesion objectives match the “real problems”. In order to increase the effectiveness of this approach, a comparative analysis between the case study regions will be conducted in order to identify the best practice in mixing the EU policy instruments for a better achievement of regional needs.

Pawel Chmieliński is co-organiser of the European Rural Development Network. His research focuses on public policies for rural development; development of non-farm rural economy, labour markets, farm diversification, social structures & employment of rural population; local governance and community development.
Andrzej Kowalski

Bio
Andrzej Kowalski is Director of IAFE-NRI, lecturer at Warsaw School of Economics, in the period 2004-2006 – Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. His key research interests are agricultural development, agricultural policy, agro-business, social conditions and barriers to agricultural development.
Barbara Wieliczko
Department: Agricultural Finance
Title: Communication officer for IAFE-NRI

Bio
Barbara Wieliczko is specialized in evaluating agricultural policies and rural development measures within CAP and national policies. She is participant of many evaluation and research projects, including, among others, surveys and case studies. She is also an analyst of the Polish Senate.
Zbigniew Floriańczyk

Bio
Zbigniew Floriańczyk is head of the Polish FADN. His research focuses on performance monitoring and development processes analysis in agriculture, productivity analysis of different types of farms based on FADN and modelling interactions between CAP instruments and farm incomes disparities.
Marek Wigier

Bio
Marek Wigier’s research focuses on EU agricultural and rural development policy, Polish agricultural and rural development policies, market intervention system, evaluation of RDP, macro and micro economics analysis of agricultural and food industry. He is also the coordinator of the IAFE-NRI’s multi-annual research programmes.

Adam Wasilewski’s research focuses on effectiveness and efficiency of structural and regional policy instruments affecting the development of rural entrepreneurship, the role of institutions in rural development and ICT development in rural areas.

Marcin Gospodarowicz’s research focuses on the institutional and infrastructural aspects of sustainable rural development, the instruments promoting entrepreneurship, the assessment of the effectiveness and efficiency of the EU financial instruments supporting enterprises in the rural areas and quantitative analysis.
